Battlegrounds Mobile India First Impressions: PUBG Mobile Similarities and Differences

Battlegrounds Mobile India

Battlegrounds Mobile India Early Access went live on Thursday,  available in beta via Google Play. We managed to get our hands on it and played the entire match. It is clear that Battlegrounds Mobile India is basically PUBG Mobile with some minor tweaks, which we will talk about soon. We're not sure how long this beta phase will last, or what the release date will be, with the open beta being made available just before the expected June 18 release date. Here are our first thoughts of Battlegrounds Mobile India.

If you are a fan of PUBG Mobile, everything will become familiar as soon as you open Battlegrounds Mobile India on your Android device. After logging in or creating an account with your previous PUBG Mobile credentials, you will be greeted with the same home screen and background music as in PUBG Mobile. And the best part is that you get to transfer your in-game data from PUBG Mobile to your game. We will publish the method soon. Interestingly, there were prompts to ask if the player is over 18 and if he is in India, and unfortunately, it happens at this stage that you can simply answer 'yes', without any confirmation needed.

We immediately jumped into Erangel with Season 19's Traverse – Insectoid theme and It's a simulation, I've heard a safe game statement indicating that it doesn't represent real life and to not spend long hours playing. This happens every time you start a match - which can be a bit irritating, but can be a very important reminder during long sessions. Surprisingly, the match was full of bots and we didn't find a single real player. It was again like the early days of PUBG Mobile.

The Erangel map in Battlegrounds Mobile India is exactly the same as in PUBG Mobile, you can pick up familiar weapons and equipment using the same customization controls. One of the advantages of this game being special for India is that it was a fast and smooth experience without any lags, frame drops or ping issues. However when the actual players are on the same server the experience may change slightly.

Battlegrounds Mobile India brings back similar maps, similar weapons, gameplay mechanics, and similar appeal to PUBG Mobile, except that it has been re-introduced for Indian consumers. It does make some minor changes though. When we shoot someone in the game the blood is green instead of red. On the top left, where it showed the number of 'live' players and your 'killed' players, it now shows  ‘Alive' and ‘Finished'. Another step in the name of safety? You cannot select your server at Battlegrounds Mobile India because the option has been disabled. We don't know that this option will be available in the near future.

As mentioned, Krafton began beta testing for Battlegrounds Mobile India for limited users on Thursday, and we were able to access the game.

Battlegrounds Mobile India took up 6.06GB of storage on the device we tested and it was on version 1.4.0. Only Storage Permission is required to access phone storage, no other permission is required. If you use in-game chat it will ask you to allow microphone. So far, Krafton hasn't shared a release date for the game, and it's unclear how long it will be in the open beta stage.
