Battlegrounds Mobile India is now available on Early Access and has gained over 5 million downloads in a single day of going live. The game's privacy policy states that data is stored on servers located in Singapore and India, but this may allow user data to be transferred to other countries to run the game service or to satisfy legal requirements. A recent report also claimed that the data is being sent and received to servers in China, Hong Kong, the United States, and Moscow. The game makers last year had promised to break all ties with China to return to the Indian market.

Battlegrounds Mobile India privacy policy page explicitly states that Krafton may transfer your data to other countries and/or territories in order to run the game and/or satisfy legal requirements. The legal basis for such action is compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject to legitimate interests, such as the use or defense of legal claims. The company says that personal information will be stored and processed on servers in India and Singapore, if it is to be transferred to another country or region, and will take steps to ensure that your information reaches the same level of security as if living in India .

According to a report by IGN India, the data was sent via Battlegrounds Mobile India APK to servers in many other regions, including China. The data was reportedly sent to China Mobile Communications Server in Beijing, Tencent-run Proxima Beta in Hong Kong, as well as Microsoft Azure servers in Mumbai, Moscow, and the United States. During the start of the game, Battlegrounds Mobile India also reportedly informed Tencent servers in Beijing.

Last year, the Indian government banned over 250 apps and websites under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act 2000 following rising geopolitical tensions between India and China. PUBG Mobile was one of the banned games at that time and is now revived as Battlegrounds Mobile India. Krafton had promised to break ties with China-based Tencent and invest more than 100 million (about Rs 741 crore) in the country.

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has written a letter to the Union Minister for IT and Communications Ravi Shankar Prasad, demanding a ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India in the country. According to a letter seen by, CAIT has reiterated that the data is being sent to countries outside India where Indian law does not apply. Furthermore, it says that the app has many features from the forbidden version and even pre-registration for the game has pubg.imobile the app package for this game on the Play Store. CAIT has also asked Google to remove Battlegrounds Mobile India from the Play Store.
